ABOUT ME

Lyn O'Neill

I cannot remember a time when I didn't paint or draw.

Growing up in South Africa with access to the wild places on my doorstep has led to a life of exploration. Finding & recording the wild places local to me in adulthood is a passion which includes discovering abandoned buildings, untrodden paths, mountains and deep forests.

I worked for many years in Film Animation & was an illustrator for newspapers, magazines, design companies & advertising agencies. Anything that paid the bills!

Nowadays my practice involves working initially en plein air where I paint in oil, draw in charcoal or pencil & have been known to use tea and coffee as ink when there is nothing else available. In winter I love to hunker in the studio to paint larger works and make woodblock prints. Living between the UK and Italy provides a rich and varied well of inspiration.
